This Privacy Policy describes how DocuSnap AI ("we", "our", "the extension") handles information when you use our Chrome extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

📊 Information We Collect

We collect absolutely NO personal information, usage data, or analytics of any kind.

DocuSnap AI operates entirely on your local device. The extension does not:

Collect, transmit, or store any personal information
Track your browsing history or activity
Use cookies, analytics, or tracking pixels
Send data to any external server we own or operate
Create user accounts or require registration
Fingerprint your device or browser

💾 How Your Data is Stored

All data created by DocuSnap AI is stored exclusively on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This includes:

Documents & SOPs — Step descriptions, titles, and metadata
Screenshots — Captured images stored as base64 data
Settings — Your preferences, API keys, and branding
Folders & Tags — Your organizational structure

🔐 This data is sandboxed within Chrome's extension storage and is inaccessible to other extensions, websites, or applications. Only you can access it.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by:

Deleting individual documents from the extension popup
Uninstalling the extension (removes all local data)
Clearing Chrome's extension storage via Settings → Extensions

🔑 Permissions & Why We Need Them

We believe in transparency. Here's exactly why each permission is required:

`tabs`	To detect page navigations and URL changes during workflow recording
`scripting`	To inject the click/input tracker that records your workflow steps
`storage`	To save your documents, settings, and preferences locally
`sidePanel`	To show a live step counter during recording in Chrome's side panel
`offscreen`	To process desktop screen capture in a hidden page (required by Chrome)
`desktopCapture`	To capture full-screen screenshots during recording
`downloads`	To export your documents as PDF, HTML, Markdown, and other formats

⚠️ host_permissions ("<all_urls>") — This is required so the content script can record workflows on any website you choose to document. We do NOT read or collect page content — we only track the elements YOU interact with during an active recording session.

🌐 Third-Party Services

DocuSnap AI may connect to the following external services only when you explicitly trigger them:

1. Google Gemini API (Optional)

If you provide your own API key in Settings, the extension sends step descriptions to Google's Gemini API to enhance documentation quality. This is entirely optional.

Data sent: Step descriptions only (no screenshots, no personal data)
When: Only when you click "AI Enhance"

2. Slack / MS Teams Webhooks (Optional)

If you choose to post documents to Slack or Teams, the extension sends formatted text to the webhook URL you provide. No data is sent to any Slack/Teams server unless you explicitly configure and trigger it.

3. Pollinations AI (Optional)

Used as a free fallback AI service if you don't have a Gemini API key. Only triggered when you click "AI Enhance".

🔒 No third-party service is contacted without your explicit action. There are no background pings, no telemetry, and no passive data collection.

🔐 Security & Encryption

DocuSnap AI includes enterprise-grade security features:

Password-Protected Sharing: Documents can be encrypted with AES-256-GCM before sharing. Encryption is performed entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API.
PBKDF2 Key Derivation: 100,000 iterations with random salt for password-based encryption
PII Redaction: Built-in tool to automatically detect and remove personally identifiable information from documents
Screenshot Blur: Pixelation tool to blur sensitive areas in screenshots before sharing

👶 Children's Privacy

DocuSnap AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since we collect no data at all, this is inherently satisfied.

🌍 GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Since DocuSnap AI collects no personal data and operates entirely offline on your device:

GDPR (EU): No personal data is processed. No data controller/processor relationship exists.
CCPA (California): No personal information is sold, shared, or collected.
Right to Delete: Uninstall the extension to permanently delete all data.
Right to Access: All your data is visible directly in the extension interface.
Data Portability: Export any document as JSON, HTML, PDF, or Markdown at any time.
